“Masks of Michigan” Series

Throughout 2020 I traveled across Michigan documenting people as they dealt with all that this last year brought. From first responders, teachers, political figures, protestors from dozens of different causes, attendees of political rallies across the political spectrum, militia members, and people just roaming the streets.

With all the action that the difficult year brought, the one thing that united each person in this series is that when we met, they were wearing a mask that shared a perspective of a tumultuous year. Each piece incorporates a portrait, dialogue, imagery, stickers, and other collaged elements to bring context to their perspective.
